Choosing A Name For Your White Horse
This is the question we get asked all the time and we say it isn’t easy and it depends.
So how do you choose a name for your white horse? One of the easiest ways to choose a name is figuring out what you are going to do with the horse or the future of the horse. If it is a thoroughbred and you are going to race it go with a racing or show name that can either be serious or have some humor to it.
You can always combine different names which is essentially what we like to do to make it a bit more original. You are essentially taking two different ideas and putting them together. Let’s say you want something serious for their show name you can always pick something funny for their barn name as well. This way if their show name is harder to say then you can call them something easy and short outside of competition.
You can always take parts of the Sire and ancestry names and add your own into it. Or maybe you know you are going to keep this horse forever on your family farm then you can add in something that reminds you of your farm. Let’s say your farm is known for the white oaks on it (we just did a fence job for a farm with tons of white oaks and great deer hunting. So you could take it one step further and go with a Native American name for white oaks which is Byhalia.
Choose your name wisely and have fun with it. What you can do is go into some bigger horse groups and ask for feedback on names for your horse or even forums. This way you know you have made the right decision.
